As a fisher on Here2Fish, setting up a complete profile helps vessel owners get to know you and can improve your booking experience. This guide will help you create an engaging profile.

Your profile is your identity on Here2Fish. A complete profile helps you:

  • Build trust with vessel owners
  • Stand out in the community
  • Share your fishing interests and preferences
  • Get your unique referral code

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Access Profile Settings

From the app:

  1. Open the Profile tab (bottom navigation)
  2. Tap your profile photo or name at the top
  3. Select “Edit Profile” or go to Settings > Edit Profile”

2. Profile Photo

Adding a Profile Photo:

  1. Tap the profile photo placeholder or current photo
  2. Choose from:
    • Take Photo: Use your device camera
    • Choose from Library: Select an existing photo
  3. Crop and adjust the photo if needed
  4. Save the changes

Tips for a Good Profile Photo:

  • Use a clear, recent photo of yourself
  • Good lighting with your face clearly visible
  • Friendly, approachable appearance
  • Square format works best
  • Consider including fishing gear or a boat in the background

3. Basic Information

Display Name

  • Required: Your name as you want it displayed
  • Appears when you book trips and in community interactions
  • Can be your real name or a fishing nickname

Email

  • Auto-filled: From your account registration
  • Can be shown publicly or kept private (see Privacy Settings)

Phone Number

  • Optional but Recommended: For direct communication
  • Can be shown publicly or kept private (see Privacy Settings)
  • Useful for coordinating trip details with vessel owners

4. Handle (Your Unique Identifier)

What is a Handle?

  • Your unique @username on Here2Fish
  • Used in your referral code (so you can earn money referring friends)
  • Appears in your public profile URL
  • Helps others find and mention you in the community

Setting Your Handle:

  1. Enter your desired handle (e.g., “anglerjohn” becomes “@anglerjohn”)
  2. Requirements:
    • Must be unique (not already taken)
    • Can contain letters and numbers
    • No spaces or special characters (except underscores)
    • Minimum 3 characters
  3. Important: Once set, changing your handle affects your referral links

Note: Your handle becomes part of your referral code, so choose something memorable!

5. Bio (About You)

Writing Your Bio:

  • Recommended: Write 2-4 sentences about yourself
  • Include:
    • Your fishing experience level
    • Favorite types of fishing or target species

6. Location

Setting Your Location:

  1. Enter your city, state, or region
  2. Or use “Use Current Location” to auto-detect

7. Fishing Preferences (Optional but Recommended)

You can set your fishing preferences to help match with the right vessels:

Interests & Experience:

  • Fishing Types: Freshwater, saltwater, fly fishing, deep sea, etc.
  • Target Species: Bass, trout, salmon, tuna, etc.
  • Experience Level: Beginner, Intermediate, Expert
  • Preferred Techniques: Trolling, casting, jigging, etc.

Trip Preferences:

  • Preferred Time of Day: Morning, afternoon, evening
  • Trip Duration: Short (1-2 hours), medium (3-5 hours), long (6+ hours)
  • Family Friendly: Whether you prefer family-friendly trips
  • Catch and Release: Your preference on keeping or releasing fish

Social Preferences:

  • Group Size: Prefer small groups, large groups, or any size
  • Communication Style: Chatty, quiet, instructional, or any

8. Privacy Settings

Control what information is visible to others:
